Cardiff, Oct 30 (NationPress) Michael Klinger, the former Australian cricketer, has been named the head coach of Welsh Fire women's team for the upcoming 2026 Hundred season. This role also involves overseeing recruitment strategies for both teams within the franchise.
At 45 years old, Klinger enters a two-year agreement following his role as head coach for the Manchester Originals women's team during the 2025 season. He will juggle his responsibilities between the UK and the USA, maintaining his position as director of cricket at Washington Freedom in the Major League Cricket (MLC).
"I am excited to embrace this expanded role with Welsh Fire, managing player selections for both the men's and women's squads, in addition to coaching the women's team," Klinger expressed in a statement released on Thursday.
