New Delhi, April 28 (NationPress) Former Indian spinner Piyush Chawla expressed his excitement over the Mumbai Indians' commanding 54-run victory against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. He attributed this success to the numerous match winners present in the five-time champions' playing XI.
This win marked Mumbai's fifth straight victory of the season, elevating them to the third position on the points table with 12 points from 10 matches.
Batting first, Ryan Rickleton and Suryakumar Yadav both notched up half-centuries, while debutant Corbin Bosch and Naman Dhir made valuable contributions of 25 and 20 runs, respectively, helping the Mumbai Indians reach 215/7 in their full quota of 20 overs.
On the bowling front, Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult combined to take seven wickets, with Will Jacks and Bosch adding two and one wickets to their tally, respectively.
"If you analyze the number of match winners in the Mumbai Indians' squad, it becomes evident from the start of the lineup to the eleventh player. Ryan Rickelton's performance today was commendable; we also know what Rohit Sharma has achieved in the last two matches. Today, Bumrah excelled with the ball, and Will Jacks provided those crucial wickets," Chawla shared on JioHotstar.
The seasoned cricketer believes that everything is aligning for MI, who faced a rocky beginning to the season, losing four out of their first five matches.
"I believe everything is coming together; whatever Hardik is implementing is benefiting the team, which is the essence of this squad. There are numerous match winners in the playing XI. Jasprit Bumrah came in as an impact player and made a significant difference! This is why the Mumbai Indians are on a winning streak, and when they are in form, other teams should be wary of them," he added.
The Mumbai Indians are scheduled to face a struggling Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 1.
