Pakistan Reinstates Spinners Sajid and Abrar for Upcoming Tests Against West Indies

Lahore, Jan 11 (NationPress) Pakistan has brought back the spin duo of Sajid Khan and Abrar Ahmed for the upcoming two-match home Test series against West Indies, scheduled to occur in Multan from January 17. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made seven alterations to the squad that toured South Africa, where they suffered a 0-2 whitewash in the Test series.

The squad retains captain Shan Masood, vice-captain Saud Shakeel, Babar Azam, Kamran Ghulam, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Rizwan, Noman Ali, and Salman Ali Agha.

Sajid and Abrar will bolster the spin department alongside left-arm spinner Noman Ali. Additionally, openers Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Huraira have been recalled to replace the injured Saim Ayub and the out-of-form Abdullah Shafique.

In a move for workload management, the pace quartet of Aamir Jamal, Mohammad Abbas, Mir Hamza, and Naseem Shah have been rested for this series. In their stead, the selectors have retained Khurram Shahzad, recalled Mohammad Ali, and included uncapped Kashif Ali.

Due to a split webbing in his right hand sustained during the Cape Town Test, wicketkeeper-batter Haseebullah will be absent, leading to the addition of former Pakistan U19 captain Rohail Nazir to the squad.

Pakistan enters the series against West Indies following a 0-2 defeat in the two-match series in South Africa, losing the first match by two wickets and the second by ten wickets.

Both Tests in the Pakistan vs West Indies series will take place at the Niazi Stadium in Multan, with the first Test scheduled from January 17 to 21 and the second from January 25 to 29.

Pakistan's squad for the West Indies Tests includes: Shan Masood (c), Saud Shakeel (vc), Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, Kamran Ghulam, Kashif Ali, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Noman Ali, Rohail Nazir (wk), Sajid Khan, and Salman Ali Agha.
