Jaipur, May 23 (NationPress) Punjab Kings assistant coach Brad Haddin conveyed his unwavering confidence in the team's batting lineup while detailing their strategic objectives for the upcoming matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. This comes ahead of the Punjab Kings' crucial clash against Delhi Capitals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday.
Haddin lauded the team's batting efforts throughout the tournament and dismissed any potential adjustments to skipper Shreyas Iyer’s batting position, after he batted lower in the previous match against the Rajasthan Royals.
"Our top order has been exceptional. Our captain has excelled at number 3. We have witnessed Shashank and Omar (Omarzai) stepping up when necessary. Both have scored impressive 50s. At this point in the tournament, we are pleased with our batters' form," Haddin stated.
Regarding the captain's recent drop in batting order, Haddin explained, "This was due to circumstances in the last match. Iyer showed great courage playing with an injury. He still contributed by fielding during the latter part of the game. He will return to his usual number 3 position; he has been outstanding both as a batsman and a leader throughout the tournament."
Mitchell Owen, who recently joined the Kings as a substitute for Lockie Ferguson, made his debut in the last game. Although he struggled with the bat, the assistant coach expressed confidence in his potential for future matches.
Haddin assured that Marsh is now well-adjusted to the playing conditions, stating, "Mitch brings unparalleled power. He has had ample time to acclimatize and understands the conditions well. He is actively communicating with our Indian batsmen and coaching staff. We anticipate a strong performance from him in his next opportunity."
Despite already qualifying, Haddin emphasized the team's dedication to ongoing improvement, consistency, and achieving their set goals.
"While it’s positive that we’ve qualified, we’ve discussed our gameplay style and have clear goals for where we want to finish. Expect to see that in the upcoming matches," he remarked.
Haddin wrapped up by expressing contentment with the team's depth, which allows for experimentation with different combinations as needed.
Praising the squad, he mentioned, "Currently, we have the luxury of trying out various combinations. What excites me is the eagerness of all players to compete. Training has become highly competitive, which is ideal at this stage."
The Punjab Kings are set to take on the Delhi Capitals at 7:30 PM at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday.
