Pune, Dec 12 (NationPress) Fueled by Naveen Kumar's Super 10 and Ashu Malik's 9 points, Dabang Delhi K.C. achieved a significant victory against Telugu Titans, clinching the match with a score of 33-27 in a Season 11 showdown of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) held at the Badminton Hall in Balewadi Sports Complex on Thursday.
With Naveen and Ashu Malik in outstanding form, Dabang Delhi K.C. emerged victorious in a fiercely contested match that held substantial implications for the playoffs, allowing them to ascend to second place on the points table.
Although Pawan Sehrawat and his team are still vying for playoff contention, this result marked the end of the road for Gujarat Giants this season, making them the first team to be eliminated from playoff consideration.
The match began with both teams quickly finding their rhythm, with Vijay Malik scoring the opening points for Telugu Titans. Pawan Sehrawat swiftly made an impact upon his return to the mat, providing his team with a strong offensive start.
Ashu Malik set the pace for Dabang Delhi K.C. with a two-point raid, as both teams exchanged points in the initial stages.
Naveen Kumar also played a pivotal role for Dabang Delhi K.C., intensifying the competition as both sides battled fiercely. In a crucial do-or-die raid, Vijay Malik secured two points, putting pressure on the opposing team. Following that, Mohit executed a successful raid, inflicting an all-out on Dabang Delhi K.C., which gave Telugu Titans a valuable lead.
The combination of Naveen Kumar and Ashu Malik kept Dabang Delhi K.C. competitive, narrowing the gap for their team. However, at the conclusion of a hard-fought first half, Telugu Titans held a four-point advantage, leading 17-13.
Dabang Delhi emerged determined in the second half, achieving an all-out of their own and leveling the score at 18 points each. Telugu Titans quickly retaliated with Pawan Sehrawat and Vijay Malik, re-establishing a five-point lead in no time. The final moments of the game saw just two points separating the teams, with Telugu Titans ahead 24-22.
Praful Zaware secured a couple of critical points to maintain parity with the opposing team. Yet, Dabang Delhi gained crucial momentum at a pivotal moment as Naveen completed his Super 10, granting his team a four-point lead with under three minutes remaining. This ultimately sealed the fate for Telugu Titans, who faced a 33-27 defeat.
