March 26 (NationPress) Following a thrilling 11-run triumph over Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings' head coach Ricky Ponting disclosed the rationale behind introducing Vyshak as an impact substitute. He mentioned that captain Shreyas Iyer requested the medium pacer to execute a couple of yorker deliveries to secure the win.
Iyer showcased his leadership by scoring an impressive 97 runs off 42 balls, achieving a strike rate of 230.95, which propelled his team to a formidable total of 243/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Vijaykumar Vyshak played a pivotal role during the middle overs, limiting the Titans to 232/5 by the end of their innings, ultimately clinching a narrow victory.
“While observing from the dugout, I realized they needed 13 or 14 runs per over. I communicated with Shreyas, asking for his input, and he promptly replied, 'just get Vyshak out here.'
