Punjab Achieves Historic Feat with Back-to-Back 400+ Scores in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Ahmedabad, Jan 3 (NationPress) Punjab has etched its name in the record books as the first team to achieve two 400-plus totals in a single Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament. In their recent batting exhibition, Punjab racked up an impressive 426/4 against Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium Ground ‘A’.
This marks the second occasion in this tournament where Punjab has surpassed the 400-run threshold, having scored 424 for five against Saurashtra earlier in the series.
The innings was spearheaded by opener Prabhsimran Singh, whose dazzling century of 137 showcased aggressive batting at its finest. The right-handed batsman struck an impressive 20 fours and 3 sixes, effortlessly dismantling the Hyderabad bowling lineup.
Prabhsimran’s explosive innings laid the groundwork for Punjab, as he and Abhishek Sharma forged a monumental 196-run opening partnership.
While Prabhsimran garnered much of the attention, his partner Abhishek contributed significantly with a dynamic half-century of 93. Sharma’s innings was filled with boundaries, as he matched Prabhsimran’s intensity during the powerplay, allowing Punjab to seize early control.
As the innings unfolded, the middle order capitalized on the platform established by the openers. Ramandeep Singh (80) and Nehal Wadhera (35) stepped up to provide a thrilling conclusion to the innings.
Ramandeep’s rapid fifty highlighted his prowess in clearing the boundaries, while Wadhera played a crucial role in maintaining the momentum and applying pressure on Hyderabad’s bowlers.
The duo’s late surge propelled Punjab to a daunting total of 426, leaving Hyderabad with a challenging target.
