Raiza, who recently clinched silver at the Junior World Cup in Suhl, expressed her ambition: "My focus is on the Lonato World Cup in July, and I aim to draw confidence from my strong performances this year as I head to Italy."
Among the athletes who participated in the third Nicosia Shotgun World Cup earlier this month, where India secured its first-ever ISSF medal, a bronze in the newly introduced Olympic Trap Mixed Team event, only the experienced Mairaj Ahmad Khan in men’s skeet and Maheshwari Chauhan in women’s skeet have maintained their positions.
Returning to the team is the formidable veteran Zoravar Singh Sandhu in men’s Trap alongside 2018 Jakarta Asiad silver medallist Lakshay Sheoran.
Ganemat Sekhon, India’s most decorated female Skeet Shooter with five senior ISSF medals, including two golds, is also set to compete after missing the Nicosia World Cup.
The responsibility for the Trap Mixed Team will be shouldered by Neeru Dhanda and Lakshay Sheoran, along with Preeti Rajak and Zoravar.
The rest of the team comprises Pragati Dubey (women’s trap), Jaswinder Singh (men’s trap), and Bhavtegh Singh Gill (men’s skeet).
To date, the ISSF circuit has hosted two Rifle/Pistol World Cup stages, three Shotgun World Cups, and one combined Junior World Cup, during which Indian shooters have won a total of 27 medals, including nine golds.
