How Did Ravindra Jadeja Feel Meeting PM Modi?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 10 (NationPress) Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, along with his wife Rivaba Jadeja and Gujarat’s Minister for Tribal Development, Primary, Secondary, and Adult Education, had the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Parliament House in New Delhi on Tuesday.
“It was an incredible privilege and honour to engage with Hon’ble PM Shri Modi. His clarity of vision, enthusiasm, and dedication to excellence are truly motivating. It’s a privilege to learn from such outstanding leadership,” Jadeja shared on X, posting images from the memorable meeting.
This meeting comes at a time when Jadeja is regarded as one of the senior players in Indian cricket. He has retained his position in the Elite A category of the BCCI’s central contracts list, which was released on Monday. He is one of only three players, alongside Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, to achieve this status.
Jadeja has decided to step back from T20 internationals, concluding his career in this format following the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from the T20 scene after the T20 World Cup 2024. Consequently, he is not included in India’s roster for the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which is co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
The latest central contracts list also indicates a significant structural adjustment. The BCCI has eliminated the A+ category for the 2025–26 season, while senior batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been downgraded to Grade B after retiring from Test and T20I cricket. India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is also placed in Grade B.
This season, a total of 30 players have been awarded central contracts, down from 34 last year. Grade B comprises 11 players, while Grade C includes 16 cricketers, featuring emerging talent Abhishek Sharma. Several prominent names, such as Mohammed Shami, Ishan Kishan, Rajat Patidar, and Sarfaraz Khan, were omitted from the contract list.
On the field, Jadeja was last seen representing India in a home three-match ODI series against New Zealand last month, which ended with the visitors winning 2-1.
