Can Rajat Patidar Lead RCB to Their First IPL Title in 2025?

New Delhi, May 23 (NationPress) The captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajat Patidar, has attributed the team's impressive performance in the IPL 2025 season to their formidable bowling unit, expressing confidence that they can lead the franchise to its much-anticipated first IPL championship.

During a special segment on JioStar titled ‘Superstars', Patidar emphasized that the current bowling squad is the best in RCB's history, noting that strategic planning and squad cohesion have been pivotal this season.

Having already secured a playoff spot, RCB currently sits second on the leaderboard. They are gearing up to clash with the Sunrisers Hyderabad in a critical match on Friday in Lucknow, a game that was moved from Bengaluru due to unfavorable weather.

“In T20 cricket, possessing skilled and seasoned bowlers who comprehend how to perform in various situations is invaluable. A strong bowling lineup can be the key to winning matches—and even the championship. This year, we have prepared thoroughly and selected players tailored to our specific needs. It has proven effective, and I am confident this is our finest bowling squad to date,” Patidar remarked.

The RCB bowling lineup in 2025 has showcased remarkable results and consistency. Notably, Australian quick Josh Hazlewood has led the charge with 18 wickets in 10 matches, while Krunal Pandya has contributed 14 wickets in 11 games. Despite Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yash Dayal not racking up many wickets, their disciplined bowling has created pressure during critical times. Additionally, young spinner Suyash Sharma has emerged as a surprising asset, adding depth to the attack.

In previous seasons under leaders such as Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis, RCB faced criticism for lacking bowling strength. This year, however, the narrative has shifted, and Patidar attributes this change to meticulous planning.

Patidar also commended the team's atmosphere. “The camaraderie and environment in the dressing room are fantastic. We engage in excellent team-building activities and collaborate seamlessly. Even those not in the playing XI take initiative, fostering open communication and enjoyment. It’s a positive setting,” he stated.

RCB has triumphed in all six of their away matches thus far, and the captain believes their adaptability has worked to their advantage. “When we play away, we don’t assume victory is guaranteed. What has been effective is that every player has fulfilled their role and assessed conditions and situations wisely—considering the pitch, the bowlers, and the opposition,” he noted.

He concluded by stating that the team has also concentrated on preparing for challenging situations. “We’ve explored worst-case scenarios in our discussions. This preparation has contributed to our success. Historically, RCB's batting has been a strong suit, but now we boast a well-rounded unit,” he added.
