New Delhi, Sep 21 (NationPress) The captain of India's ODI team, Rohit Sharma, along with senior batsman KL Rahul, has ramped up their training efforts for the forthcoming cricket season with a dedicated training session at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.
As highlighted in a video released by the BCCI, the experienced batting pair participated in a combination of skills and strength training sessions, aimed at sharpening their performance in anticipation of a busy cricketing calendar.
“In preparation for their upcoming commitments, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul trained at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, honing their skills and enhancing their strength. The players adapted to various conditions available at the CoE during their training,” the BCCI noted on its social media platforms on Sunday.
Rahul is set to play in the second multi-day match for India A against Australia A, commencing on September 23 at the BRSABV Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Both Rahul and fast bowler Mohammed Siraj have been named in the squad for this fixture.
This will mark Rahul's first professional match since the Test series against England, where he emerged as the third-highest run-scorer, accumulating 532 runs at an average of 53, which included two centuries and two fifties.
Rahul is expected to open the batting alongside left-handed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for the two-match Test series against the West Indies, scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad from October 2-6 and in New Delhi from October 10-14. Both matches are part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle.
On the other hand, Rohit is anticipated to lead India during the ODI segment of their white-ball tour in Australia. This tour kicks off with the ODI series opener on October 19 at Perth Stadium, followed by matches at Adelaide Oval and Sydney Cricket Ground on October 23 and 25, respectively.
