Mohali, Sep 7 (NationPress) Roundglass Hockey Academy and Sports Authority of India National Centre of Excellence, Sonipat achieved impressive wins over SDAT Hockey Academy from Tamil Nadu and Namdhari Hockey Academy, further securing their places at the top of the leaderboard after day six of the second edition of the Punjab Hockey League (U 21), held at the Olympian Balbir Singh Senior International Hockey Stadium.

Naval Tata Academy surged to third in the standings with a nail-biting 4-3 victory against SGPC Hockey Academy, Amritsar.

Currently, Roundglass Hockey Academy leads with 17 points, followed closely by SAI Sonipat with 15 points. Naval Tata Academy, based in Jamshedpur, holds third place with 10 points, while PIS Surjit Hockey Academy from Jalandhar has climbed to fourth with 9 points. Namdhari Hockey Academy has slipped to fifth with 8 points, and SGPC Hockey Academy (5 points), SDAT Hockey Academy (5 points), and Ghumanhera Risers Hockey Academy from New Delhi (3 points) round out the remaining positions.

In the opening match of the day, Roundglass Hockey Academy showcased dominance by defeating SDAT Hockey Academy 10-3. Despite SDAT taking an early lead in the third minute through S. Vishal, RGHA quickly turned the tide, scoring two goals in the first quarter from Gursewak Singh and Japnit Singh. They ramped up their performance in the second quarter, netting four more goals from Jobanpreet Singh, Sukhmanpreet Singh, Gurwinder Singh, and Varinder Singh. Although SDAT managed to score twice through S. Krishnan and M. Sugumar, RGHA's Gurwinder Singh sealed the match, and they finished strong with three additional goals from Jobanpreet Singh, Japnit Singh, and Prince Singh.

The most thrilling match of the day saw Naval Tata Hockey Academy narrowly defeat SGPC Hockey Academy, propelling them to third place. The first half ended with a two-goal lead for Naval Tata, courtesy of Tintus Hemrom. However, SGPC responded with a goal from Harwinder Singh just before halftime. In the third quarter, Ashish Tani Purti scored twice, extending Naval Tata's lead to 4-1, but SGPC fought back with goals from Harwinder Singh and Diljeet Singh, bringing the final score to 4-3 as Naval Tata clung to their lead.

In another high-scoring clash, PIS Surjit Hockey Academy triumphed over Ghumanhera Risers Hockey Academy with a remarkable 7-1 victory. Abhishek Gorkhi contributed two goals, while Charanjeet Singh, Manroop Singh, Karan Singh, Ajaypal Singh, and Navdeer Kumar added to the tally, with Prikshit netting a consolation goal for Ghumanhera.
