Lahore, April 10 (NationPress) Kirsty McColl has received approval from the ICC Technical Committee to step in for the injured Darcey Carter in Scotland’s roster for the ongoing Women’s ODI World Cup qualifiers taking place in Pakistan.
Kirsty, who has yet to make her international debut, has been brought in as a replacement after Darcey was ruled out for the remainder of the tournament due to an injury to her right hand sustained during Scotland’s thrilling 11-run victory over the West Indies on the opening day of the qualifiers.
In that match, Darcey scored 25 runs off 48 balls and secured a wicket by dismissing opener Qiana Joseph for a duck in her first over. Kirsty was part of Scotland’s squad for the 2025 U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia.
The substitution of a player must be sanctioned by the Event Technical Committee before they can be formally added to the squad. The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Qualifier Committee includes Gaurav Saxena (ICC General Manager – Events & Corporate Communications), Clive Hitchcock (ICC Senior Cricket Operations Manager), Christian Chiketa (ICC Manager – Global Pathway Events), Usman Wahla (PCB Director International Cricket Operations), and Shandre Fritz (ICC Match Referee).
Scotland’s exhilarating 11-run win against the West Indies at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground was propelled by wicketkeeper-batter Sarah Bryce’s half-century and Katherine Fraser’s impressive three-wicket haul, as they aim to qualify for an ODI World Cup for the first time. The team is scheduled to face hosts Pakistan at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground on Friday.
