Hainan (China), April 25 (NationPress) Shubhankar Sharma commenced the Hainan Classic on the DP World Tour with an impressive score of 3-under 69 at the Blackstone Course in Mission Hills Resort, located on Hainan Island.

After not making the cut in Shanghai the previous week, Sharma’s first-round performance placed him Tied-17 early on Friday.

Sharma, who had a strong second day but still missed the cut last time, was 2-under after 14 holes when play was halted. He notched up two birdies and the following morning added an eagle and a bogey to finish with a 69.

Haotong Li has achieved rounds in the 60’s for the 14th time in his last 19 outings, putting him at the top alongside Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Kristoffer Reitan.

Li recorded seven birdies and one bogey, concluding the day with a score of 6 under par.

On the front nine, he had four birdies and one bogey for a score of three-under, followed by three birdies on the back nine.

Aphibarnrat had a stellar performance with eight birdies and two bogeys, including three birdies and a bogey on both nines.

Reitan also performed well with five birdies, one bogey, and one eagle, totaling 6-under.

Seven players managed to card 5-under 67 in the first round.

Previously, Sharma rebounded from a disappointing 82 in his opening round to score 69 in the second round but ultimately missed the cut at the Volvo China Open 2025 held at the Enhance Anting Golf Club in Shanghai.

Sharma, starting his second round from the tenth, had a bogey on the 12th but bounced back with birdies on the 14th and 18th to finish 1-under at the turn. He then added four birdies, a bogey, and a double bogey on the ninth for a final score of 69.

Despite improving his score by 13 shots compared to the first day, Sharma missed the cut for the first time since the Magical Kenya Open nearly two months ago. In that time, he participated in four events, including the Hero Indian Open 2025, making the cut in all.
