Mumbai, Feb 9 (NationPress) The South African trio of Shabnim Ismail, Chloe Tryon, and Nadine de Klerk have officially joined their inaugural practice session with the Mumbai Indians as they gear up for the WPL 2025.

Nadine was acquired during the WPL auction last year as the team’s new overseas addition, while Shabnim and Chloe were retained players. Last season, Shabnim Ismail achieved a remarkable feat by bowling the fastest delivery ever recorded in women's cricket, reaching a speed of 132.1 km/h, and also recorded the highest number of dot balls (97) in the previous WPL season.

The champions of the inaugural edition, Mumbai Indians, will kick off their WPL 2025 journey against the Delhi Capitals in Vadodara on February 15. This season of the women's T20 league will take place across four venues – Vadodara, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Mumbai.

The tournament will officially start on February 14, with the Gujarat Giants (GG) facing off against the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Vadodara.

Vadodara will host a total of six matches before the action moves to Bengaluru, where Smriti Mandhana-led RCB will play their first home match against Mumbai Indians at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on February 21.

Following that, the tournament will transition to Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, marking its debut as a WPL venue with four matches scheduled. Alyssa Healy-led UPW will host three matches against GG, MI, and RCB on March 3, 6, and 8, respectively.

The concluding phase of WPL 2025 will take place at the iconic Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians will wrap up the league stage with consecutive home matches against GG and RCB on March 10 and 11, respectively.

Brabourne will also be the venue for the eliminator between the second and third-placed teams on March 13, followed by the championship match set for March 15.
