New Delhi, Jan 16 (NationPress) The outstanding team culture, cultivated by coach Adrian Birrell, has played a crucial role in Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) becoming the inaugural team to secure a playoff spot in the current SA20 league, as stated by former South African captain and coach Mark Boucher.
The two-time champions, under the leadership of Tristan Stubbs, clinched a playoff position after their bonus-point triumph over the Jo’burg Super Kings at St George's Park this week and are now setting their sights on a top-two finish to qualify directly for Qualifier 1 at Kingsmead next week.
"The team culture is exceptional, and it's effectively guided by coach Adrian Birrell. Being an Eastern Cape native, he embodies the warmth and humility of the local people. Birrell has made it a point to instill these values in his players," said Boucher.
He highlighted how this culture translates into impressive performances on the field for SEC, who are managed by the owners of the IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). "The team displays a strong sense of humility and unity when playing. It's no surprise they excel in fielding, which largely depends on attitude. They all possess great mindsets," Boucher noted.
"They know their responsibilities and approach each game with the desire to win—graciously. They remain grounded, a quality largely influenced by Adrian Birrell. Kudos to him; he is quickly emerging as one of the finest coaches worldwide," Boucher concluded.
