Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Ahmedabad, March 14 (NationPress) Saptak Talwar and Dhruv Sheoran emerged as joint leaders after the third round of the DP World PGTI’s Indorama Ventures Open Golf Championship 2026, a prestigious event with a prize pool of US$300,000 (INR 2.7 crore), held at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
Both players, with scores of eight-under 208, displayed remarkable performance: Saptak with a scoreline of (68-71-69) and Dhruv at (69-69-70). Saptak’s impressive, error-free round of 69 allowed him to climb three positions, while Dhruv’s consistent 70 helped him move up one spot on the leaderboard. Manu Gandas shone bright with a round of 67, tying for the lowest score of the day, which propelled him 11 spots to third place at seven-under 209.
Aryaman Aditya Mohan also delivered a stellar performance with a round of 67, tying for fourth place at six-under 210, alongside Arjun Prasad (69) and France’s Clement Sordet (71).
Talwar, starting the day tied for fourth and two shots behind the leaders, made a significant statement with his flawless round on Saturday. The Greater Noida native, who claimed victory in a previous DP World PGTI event last year, secured three birdies from distances of 10 to 20 feet on the fourth, eighth, and twelfth holes.
Reflecting on his performance, Saptak remarked, “I’ve been setting myself up for birdies consistently. Although my putter hasn’t been very cooperative, I managed to limit my mistakes to just three bogeys over the first three days. I believe my game is definitely on the rise. This course is quite challenging off the tees, but I feel I’ve handled my tee shots well.”
Sheoran, who was positioned third overnight and just a shot off the lead, also maintained his steady performance. Based in Gurugram, he has secured three titles in his career and achieved four birdies against two bogeys on Saturday, including some impressive putts from 10 to 15 feet.
Dhruv, who played a crucial role in the Rajasthan Regals team that won the DP World PGTI’s 72 The League last week, stated, “I adhered to my game plan closely. I reminded myself to keep the ball in play. When the wind increased, I adjusted my strategy accordingly, staying under the wind. I’m looking forward to the challenge of round four. My recent experience in 72 The League has prepared me well for high-pressure situations.”
The initial leaders, Jhared Hack and Brijesh Kumar, experienced a drop in their standings, finishing with scores of 74 and 76, respectively. Jhared is now tied for seventh at five-under 211, while Brijesh is tied for sixteenth at three-under 213.
