Bengaluru, April 25 (NationPress) Angad Cheema from Chandigarh delivered a remarkable performance with an eight-under 64, propelling him to a one-shot lead at a total of 14-under 130 in Round Two of the INR 2 crore Kapil Dev Grant Thornton Invitational 2025 golf tournament, held at the Prestige Golfshire Club in Bengaluru. Angad (66-64), who was three shots behind in tied fourth after the initial round, advanced three places due to his stellar second-round performance in this 54-hole event.

Abhinav Lohan from Faridabad (66-65) recorded a 65 on Day Two, securing the second position at 13-under 131. His exceptional round moved him up two spots from his overnight tied fourth position. Khalin Joshi (65-67) followed closely with a 67, placing him further behind in third position.

Saptak Talwar from Greater Noida (70-63), a PGTI winner this year, showcased his skills with 10 birdies and one bogey on Friday, matching the course record of 63 established by Gaurav Pratap Singh in Round One. Saptak climbed 19 spots to finish Day Two in fourth position at 11-under 133.

The young talent Hitaashee Bakshi (69-65), at just 20 years old, achieved an error-free 65 on Day Two, ranking her as the highest-placed woman professional in a tied fifth at 10-under 134.

Angad Cheema, demonstrating precision, excelled on the front nine with six birdies. He hit 17 greens in regulation and added two more birdies on the back nine.

Angad made a chip-in birdie on the sixth hole, converted three birdies from distances between 10 to 20 feet, and positioned himself within five feet for two additional birdies.

Angad shared, “I gained momentum after the birdie on the fifth and then chipped in on the sixth, which propelled my confidence. My hitting was exceptional today as I missed just one green. Here, it’s crucial to place your shots accurately off the tee, as the par-5s are reachable in two shots, creating scoring chances.

“This season hasn’t been ideal for me so far. I’ve been focusing on refining certain aspects of my game. The format that includes lady professionals and amateurs adds an exciting new dimension to the competition, making it enjoyable and significantly less stressful for the male professionals this week.”

The tournament blends the Professional Championship with an exhilarating Pro-Am segment, engaging both professionals and amateurs in a dynamic manner.

This three-day, 54-hole championship showcases 60 male and 12 female professionals competing for the same prize pool. The event includes three Pro-Am rounds in a rotational format, where 48 professionals tee off in the morning, while the remaining 24 pair with 72 amateurs in the afternoon.

Each Pro-Am team consists of one professional and three amateurs, with scores combining the pro’s stroke play and the amateurs’ scramble format.
