The stampede occurred outside Gate 2 of the stadium shortly after RCB players had visited the Vidhana Soudha to meet the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah.
There was significant confusion throughout the day concerning the parade plans, as Bengaluru traffic police initially denied permission due to safety concerns. Nonetheless, thousands of RCB fans had gathered near the stadium, awaiting the team's arrival, which led to an uncontrollable surge.
Poor crowd management turned fatal as barriers fell and panic ensued. The police were overwhelmed, and emergency responders rushed to handle the chaos. The injured were taken to Bowring and Vydehi Hospitals.
Eyewitnesses recounted harrowing scenes of desperation, with many individuals being trampled and left unconscious by the time aid arrived.
