Bengaluru, June 4 (NationPress) The festivities celebrating the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) historic IPL victory took a tragic turn on Wednesday, resulting in over 50 fans injured and several others falling ill, with eight individuals feared dead following a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The chaos unfolded as fans gathered for the RCB team's IPL 2025 trophy celebration.
Numerous individuals took to social media, questioning why the celebrations were still ongoing while people desperately fought for their lives.
“Unbelievable! The victory celebration broadcast of RCB parade continues. No mention of the stampede. NOT DONE,” one post on X expressed.
“One parade, zero brains, and now seven funerals. What kind of idiots plan a mass celebration without barricades or strategy? This is not just a celebration gone wrong; it’s an administration that has lost its mind,” another user commented on 'X'
“The most heartbreaking aspect of the #ChinnaswamyStadium stampede is the blatant apathy displayed—celebrations continued as lifeless bodies lay around. Where is our humanity? These young Kannadigas died for nothing, without dignity in death. It’s disgraceful, inhumane, and unforgivable. Those responsible must be identified, shamed, and criminally charged,” expressed another user.
Authorities confirmed that two deceased individuals are at Bowring Hospital, while four others are at Vaidehi Hospital. Six individuals are currently being treated in the ICU at Vaidehi Hospital, along with three others admitted to intensive care. Sources have confirmed the death of two additional individuals.
The stampede occurred as thousands of fans rushed to enter through various gates. Police on the scene transported the injured to ambulances, which then took them to Bowring Hospital.
Law enforcement noted that ambulances faced challenges reaching the hospital due to the excessive crowding on the roads.
The Karnataka government had previously canceled the victory parade from Vidhana Soudha to Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium, citing security concerns.
