Nuh (Haryana), April 23 (NationPress) Trishul Chinnappa from Bengaluru delivered a stunning second-round performance, scoring eight-under 64, which propelled him to a two-shot lead with a total of eight-under 136 at the INR 60 lakh PGTI Players Championship, a 54-hole tournament hosted at the Classic Golf & Country Club in Nuh, Haryana.

Trishul (72-64), who is eager to secure his first professional title, made an impressive jump of 25 positions from his previous tied 26th place due to his remarkable play on Wednesday.

Sanjeev Kumar from Lucknow (69-69) is in second place at six-under 138, while Ranjit Singh from Chandigarh (70-69) and Md Siddikur Rahman, an international player from Bangladesh with seven PGTI titles (70-69), are tied for third, just a shot behind.

The tournament, featuring 90 competitors, had a cut at three-over 147, with 52 professionals advancing to the final round. The PGTI Players Championship stands as the premier event on the tour, showcasing many elite players.

Trishul Chinnappa recorded an extraordinary streak of six consecutive birdies on his front nine. His back nine included three birdies and one bogey. Sanjeev Kumar’s second round featured four birdies and one bogey, allowing him to rise one spot from his earlier tied third position. In the previous week, Tapendra Ghai from Gurugram maintained his lead with a steadfast even-par 70 on the final day, marking the end of his long wait for a second title at the INR 1 crore Calance Open 2025, which took place at the Qutab Golf Course in New Delhi.

The 29-year-old Ghai (64-67-62-70), who started the day as the leader by four strokes, clinched victory with a total of 17-under 263, winning by one shot. His final round was marked by three birdies and three bogeys.
