Rajgir, Bihar, April 14 (NationPress) The captain of Uttar Pradesh Hockey, Ketan Kushwaha, took the lead in their victory at the Sub Junior Men's National Championship by netting the first goal merely four minutes into the final match. He emphasized that effective communication and mutual trust were pivotal to their success.

Uttar Pradesh Hockey triumphed with a decisive 5-2 score against Hockey Madhya Pradesh, concluding a tournament in which they remained undefeated.

Reflecting on their accomplishment, Kushwaha stated, "Scoring that early goal instilled a sense of confidence that we could maintain our momentum and increase our lead. We collaborated flawlessly as a team, keeping up the pressure to ultimately claim the championship."

"The camaraderie in the locker room was outstanding. We consistently communicated, pinpointing errors and strategizing improvements for the game. That open communication and trust were crucial in propelling us to victory in the final," he added.

Meanwhile, the president of Uttar Pradesh Hockey, Dr. RP Singh, praised the win as a reflection of the state’s ongoing commitment to fostering young talent.

"Securing the 16th Hockey India Sub Junior Men's National Championship is a tremendous honor, not just for Uttar Pradesh Hockey, but for every young athlete who has devoted countless hours on the field chasing this dream. Our journey from securing bronze in 2014 to this moment highlights the systematic effort involved in cultivating a vibrant hockey culture at the grassroots level," Singh remarked.

"This gold medal is a result of a long-term vision: identifying and developing young players, providing structured coaching, proper facilities, and a competitive atmosphere that sharpens their skills year after year. Each year, the boys representing Uttar Pradesh in these top-tier domestic tournaments arrive better equipped, more confident, and more strategically savvy than before.

"The recognition goes to our dedicated coaches, particularly Rajnish Mishra, for his tireless efforts in fostering this environment, and most importantly to the players who have displayed character and discipline in representing Uttar Pradesh," he added.

He also commended Upender Chauhan, the coach of the UP Hockey Team that recently won the Sub Junior Men's National Championship, for his commitment.

"We are equally dedicated to advancing our women's and senior programs and are actively working to replicate this structured development in those areas as well. However, today, we celebrate these young men — and we do so with the understanding that this is not just a peak achievement; it marks a significant milestone on a much longer journey," Dr. Singh concluded.

This championship victory is the latest highlight in a remarkable performance record for Uttar Pradesh Hockey. Since 2021, the state has garnered an impressive total of 13 medals across national championships, including five gold medals, spanning the sub junior men, junior men, and senior men categories, alongside medals in women's sub junior and junior events.
