Islamabad, April 14 (NationPress) Quetta Gladiators’ off-spinner Usman Tariq has once again found himself under examination for a suspect bowling action during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 match against Lahore Qalandars.
The incident took place during Match 8 of the tournament at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday, where Quetta faced a significant 79-run defeat. Tariq bowled his complete four overs, securing one wicket while allowing 31 runs.
As per a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the spinner is permitted to continue bowling in PSL 2025 games despite the recent report. However, another infraction will result in immediate suspension from bowling.
"Quetta Gladiators spinner Usman Tariq was reported by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Chris Brown for a suspect bowling action during his team’s HBL PSL X match against Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday evening.
"According to regulations, Usman can keep bowling in future matches. However, if reported again, he will face suspension and must receive clearance from an ICC-accredited lab before he can resume bowling," the Pakistan Cricket Board stated.
This is not the first time the 30-year-old has been in the limelight for his bowling action. Tariq was previously reported for this issue during PSL 2024, leading Quetta Gladiators to voluntarily withdraw him from the tournament for reassessment.
After that report, Tariq underwent an extensive biomechanical evaluation at an ICC-accredited laboratory in Lahore. He was eventually cleared in August 2024, allowing him to resume bowling in domestic matches without further issues — until now.
