Venkat Sundaram Unanimously Appointed as President of ICA

Bengaluru, Dec 3 (NationPress) Venkat Sundaram has been unanimously elected as the president of the Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA). Sundaram, a former cricketer from Delhi and an experienced cricket administrator, takes over the role following the passing of the late Anshuman Gaekwad in July 2024, which had left the position unfilled.

The ICA, established to advocate for the interests of Indian cricketers, had been without a president since Gaekwad's death on July 31.

Sundaram's election was officially confirmed on November 30, and he will serve as president until the next General Election for ICA office-bearers in 2025, which will be overseen by the BCCI electoral officer.

With a rich cricketing history, Sundaram represented Delhi in 81 first-class and 14 List-A matches throughout his career. After retiring from playing, he made substantial contributions to Indian cricket in various administrative capacities.

Sundaram acted as manager of the Indian cricket team during its 1998 tour to Sri Lanka, providing essential leadership off the field. Later, as the BCCI’s chief curator, he led the grounds and wickets committee from 2003 to 2005 and again from 2008 to 2010.
