New Delhi, Nov 6 (NationPress) The Delhi & District Cricket Association announced on Thursday that Vijay Dahiya, a former Indian wicketkeeper-batter, has been named the new chairperson of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). Alongside Dahiya, Robin Singh (Jr) has been appointed to the committee, while Anjali Sharma continues her role.
The necessity for new members arose after former Indian cricketer Surinder Khanna was dismissed due to his involvement in the mismanagement and delayed payments related to the Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL) in Jammu & Kashmir, which included an incident concerning a stay at a five-star hotel in Srinagar.
With Nikhil Chopra also taking on a role as a DDCA Director in the players' category, Dahiya and Singh now form a three-member panel. "It was essential to include Vijay and Robin, especially after Surinder Khanna's name surfaced in that scandal surrounding the league in Kashmir," stated a source.
The new CAC is tasked with appointing a U19 men’s selector following the dismissal of Ashu Dani due to his involvement in the league, as expressed by Ashok Sharma, DDCA Secretary, in a statement to IANS.
Dahiya, who has represented India in two Tests and 19 ODIs, brings valuable experience from coaching Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in domestic leagues, as well as working with IPL franchises like Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, and serving on the backroom staff of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2025.
According to the DDCA, the CAC's responsibilities include making recommendations to the President regarding the appointment of Selection Committees, Coaches, Managers, and Support staff in line with the DDCA's Articles of Association and the BCCI's tournament requirements.
The committee is also responsible for recommending the terms and conditions of appointment for Selection Committees and maintaining the highest standards of transparency in every aspect.
In response to the controversies surrounding Dani and Khanna, the DDCA had previously issued a notice stating that no individual may be associated with any unauthorized leagues.
“This is to inform all stakeholders, including players, coaches, support staff, and match officials, that during their engagement with DDCA, they must refrain from participating in any unapproved leagues or tournaments, either within the state or elsewhere,” the notice read.
“Players, coaches, and support staff must disclose any such relationships and potential conflicts of interest immediately and ensure that none exist or continue.”
“Should any unauthorized associations or conflicts be discovered, appropriate actions will be taken against the individuals involved.”
