Werder Bremen Secures Issa Kabore on Loan from Manchester City
Bremen, Jan 6 (NationPress) Werder Bremen has acquired defender Issa Kabore on loan from Manchester City until the season concludes. The 23-year-old previously played on loan at Benfica during the first half of the season and has now joined SVW until summer.

Bremen, Jan 6 (NationPress) Werder Bremen has officially signed defender Issa Kabore on a loan deal from Manchester City that will last until the end of the current season. The 23-year-old player had his first half of the season spent on loan at Benfica but has now moved to SV Werder Bremen until summer.

“I’m really excited about this new challenge at Werder and in the Bundesliga. Werder Bremen has had a solid season so far, and I’m eager to contribute to our momentum from the first half of the campaign while getting to know the club, the supporters, and the city,” stated Kabore.

Head coach Ole Werner expressed his satisfaction with the signing, saying, “I’m thrilled that we were able to bring Issa in so quickly and unexpectedly. He is a player with strong technical abilities, physical strength, and impressive speed. His addition expands our tactical options, and we’re confident he’ll integrate well into our squad.”

Issa Kabore started his career at Rahimo FC in Burkina Faso before joining KV Mechelen in Belgium in 2019, and subsequently moving to Manchester City in 2021. He has been loaned out several times, including stints at Marseille, Luton Town, and most recently Benfica. Kabore has earned over 40 caps for his national team and has made 53 appearances in French Ligue 1, 28 in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, and 24 in the Premier League. He has also played six matches in the Champions League.

“Issa is a very dynamic player with experience across various leagues and countries, despite his young age. With Olivier Deman set to transfer and Felix Agu injured, this opportunity arose for us to secure Issa on loan until the season wraps up.

“He aligns perfectly with our desired profile, being versatile and capable of playing on both flanks. We aim to ensure we have multiple options for every position, and we’re delighted to have finalized this loan signing in such a brief timeframe,” mentioned Peter Niemeyer, Werder Bremen’s head of professional football.
