WPL 2025: Knight, Dotting Valued at Rs 50 Lakh; Sneh, Poonam Choose Rs 30 Lakh in Player Auction

Mumbai, Dec 7 (NationPress) The esteemed England cricketer Heather Knight, South African Lizelle Lee, and West Indies' Deandra Dottin are positioned in the elite category with a reserve price of Rs 50 lakh. This comes as 120 players, featuring 91 Indians and 29 foreign cricketers, including three from Associate Nations, are set to be auctioned during the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) Player Auction.

Among the 28 capped players, Indian all-rounder Sneh Rana, Shubha Satheesh, Poonam Yadav, Lauren Bell from England, Nadine De Klerk from South Africa, Maia Bouchier of England, and Kim Garth of Australia will have a reserve price of Rs 30 lakh each. This auction is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru on December 15.

The WPL 2025 Player Auction List, released on Saturday, indicates that 120 players will compete for 19 available slots, with five specifically set aside for international players.

According to Roger Binny, President of the BCCI & Chairperson of the WPL Committee, the list consists of nine capped Indian players and 21 capped international players. Additionally, 82 uncapped Indian players and eight uncapped overseas players will also be part of the auction.

Each of the five franchises has a budget of INR 15 crore to assemble their squads for the 2025 season, an increase from INR 13.5 crore in the last auction.

As previously reported by IANS on November 28, the player auction for the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) is set to occur in Bengaluru on December 15, with the upcoming season of the five-team tournament anticipated to commence in the first week of February 2025.

The Gujarat Giants, who ranked last in the standings during the initial two seasons, possess the highest auction budget at INR 4.4 crore. The RCB will enter with INR 3.25 crore, while the UP Warriorz have INR 3.9 crore available. The two-time runner-up Delhi Capitals has an auction budget of INR 2.5 crore, and the Mumbai Indians, who won in 2023, will have INR 2.65 crore at their disposal.
