Kolkata, Nov 4 (NationPress) A remarkable 18 lakh enumeration forms were distributed to the voters by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, marking the inaugural day of the first phase of the three-stage special intensive revision (SIR) conducted by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in West Bengal.

According to a statement released by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal, duplicate enumeration forms have been given to more than 18 lakh electors during the initial day of the door-to-door campaign on November 4, 2025.

The CEO's office further asserted that all operations associated with the SIR are proceeding smoothly and on schedule in West Bengal.

West Bengal employs 80,681 Booth Level Officers (BLOs). The statement also noted that the total number of booth-level agents (BLAs) appointed by recognized national and state political parties registered with the ECI currently exceeds 63,000.

District election officers (DEOs) have reiterated to each political party the importance of appointing one BLA per booth wherever feasible, as highlighted in the CEO's statement.

Distribution of enumeration forms in duplicate for all 7,66,37,529 electors in West Bengal has commenced across each of the 294 Assembly constituencies. The CEO's office clarified that those whose names appear in the last intensive revision of the electoral roll of West Bengal in 2002 will only need to update their information on the enumeration forms and submit them.

Additionally, a three-member central ECI delegation will be visiting the districts of Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, and Alipurduar in North Bengal from November 5 to November 8 to monitor the ongoing SIR activities in the state.

The CEO of West Bengal, Manoj Kumar Agarwal, will accompany the ECI team during this visit.
