New Delhi, Dec 15 (NationPress) As of now, over 7.28 crore micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have successfully registered on the Udyam Registration Portal since its inception in July 2020, as reported to Parliament on Monday. Following their registration, these enterprises are now eligible to benefit from numerous government schemes, including access to formal credit and opportunities for government procurement.
Moreover, Minister of State for MSMEs, Shobha Karandlaje, indicated that more than 50 API integrations have been established with various organizations and bodies in a written response to the Rajya Sabha.
The portal captures various data points, which are utilized to inform policy design and enhance operational efficacy.
The government is actively addressing concerns raised by MSME stakeholders regarding challenges, burdens, and barriers to growth in the sector.
Efforts include the digitization and digitalization of services and programs, the establishment of single-window clearances, and the simplification of procedures to enhance the Ease of Doing Business (EODB).
Among the Ministry of MSME's initiatives for digitalization, financing, and sustainability are MSME SAMBANDH, the Micro and Small Enterprises - Green Investment and Financing for Transformation Scheme (MSE-GIFT Scheme), the Micro and Small Enterprises Scheme for Promotion and Investment in Circular Economy (MSE-SPICE Scheme), the MSME Sustainable ZED Certification Scheme, the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), MSME SAMADHAAN, and the Micro and Small Enterprises - Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP), among others, the minister stated.
As of November 30, a total of 2.86 crore women-led MSMEs have enrolled through Udyam registration to access various benefits. These initiatives effectively tackle credit gaps and skill shortages, empowering micro and women-led MSMEs to secure finance, access markets, and technology, thereby enhancing their competitiveness, including those in remote areas.
