Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 9 (NationPress) The government has announced that a staggering 3.07 crore women-led businesses have been officially registered on the Udyam platform as of February 28, 2026. This information was shared with Parliament on Monday.
In response to a query in the Rajya Sabha, Shobha Karandlaje, the Minister of State for MSME, highlighted various initiatives aimed at bolstering women entrepreneurs and enhancing their engagement in the MSME sector.
According to data from the Udyam Registration Portal (URP) and Udyam Assist Platform, the exact figure of registered women-led businesses is 3,07,42,621 as of the stated date.
Among the primary initiatives is the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises, executed through the Credit Guarantee Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises.
This scheme allows for loans from banks and financial institutions to be guaranteed without the need for collateral or third-party guarantees.
Notably, women-led enterprises benefit from an increased credit guarantee coverage of up to 90 percent, compared to 75 percent for other businesses. They also enjoy a 10 percent reduction in the guarantee fee.
Additionally, the government is offering entrepreneurial and skill development support via the PM Vishwakarma Scheme.
This program provides both basic and advanced skill training for artisans and craftspeople, along with stipend assistance.
The training encompasses entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and digital literacy.
Moreover, beneficiaries receive guidance on utilizing modern tools and equipment pertinent to their trades.
The scheme also aids marketing efforts by enabling artisans to showcase their products on e-commerce platforms, thereby enhancing branding and promotional activities.
Capacity-building and digital marketing training are further facilitated under the Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI).
This cluster-oriented initiative provides skill development, awareness workshops, and technical training throughout the value chain.
It also promotes activities like product design and development, exposure visits, participation in seminars and workshops, and technology upgrades.
