New Delhi, Jan 18 (NationPress) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Malvinder Singh Kang has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling for urgent measures against BJP leader and Delhi minister Kapil Mishra for purportedly disseminating a manipulated video featuring offensive comments about Sikh Gurus, which has offended the religious sentiments of the Sikh community.
In his correspondence, Kang referenced forensic analysis from Punjab and Delhi, asserting that the video was “intentionally circulated to falsely implicate Smt. Atishi in making disrespectful remarks about Sikh Gurus” and stressed that “the scientific evidence leaves no doubt—she never uttered such words.”
Kang accused Mishra of spreading this misinformation with the apparent goal of “stirring up outrage and reaping political benefits by exploiting Sikh religious sentiments.” He labeled the act as “not merely a political error. It is a calculated act of blasphemy.”
The MP pointed out the significance of the timing, as the Sikh community was commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, who “sacrificed his life to safeguard Dharma and the religious liberties of others,” asserting that such actions “constitute a moral offense of the highest order.”
Kang urged Prime Minister Modi to take decisive action against Mishra, stating, “We anticipate the strongest possible measures against Kapil Mishra, including his removal from all positions of power and a public condemnation of his actions. Such decisive steps will not diminish your leadership; rather, they will reinforce it.”
Furthermore, the MP emphasized the spiritual importance of the Gurus, stating, “The history of Bharat shines with the unparalleled sacrifices made by the Sikh Gurus, who laid down their lives not for power or privilege, but for the defense of Dharma, human dignity, and the universal right to conscience.”
He added, “The Sikh community has always served as the sword and shield of this nation. Today, it seeks not favors, but justice and moral clarity. Your intervention at this moment will affirm that the ideals for which the Gurus sacrificed their lives continue to be safeguarded in modern India.”
The controversy surrounding the ‘blasphemous’ video, which gained widespread attention, arose during the Winter Session of the Delhi Assembly on January 6. BJP leaders, including Mishra, circulated a video statement from Atishi, alleging that she made inappropriate remarks regarding the Guru.
Notably, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta announced on Saturday that the video of Leader of Opposition Atishi allegedly making derogatory comments about the Sikh Guru was not doctored and that a CBI investigation would be initiated regarding the matter.
