Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 8 (NationPress) - The Delhi Minister for Social Welfare, Ravinder Indraj Singh, announced on Thursday that severe measures will be implemented against individuals who use language considered insensitive or offensive towards Sikh Gurus. He emphasized that such comments will not be tolerated.
During a press briefing at the Delhi Assembly, the Minister highlighted the significant sacrifices made by saints and Gurus for the sake of the nation, society, and faith, asserting that any form of disrespect towards them is unacceptable.
“Any offensive statement about revered Gurus or saints is condemnable and will face strict consequences,” he stated. He underlined the government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding India’s cultural values, traditions, and beliefs.
Ravinder Indraj remarked that the issue shouldn't be politicized, stressing that attacks on religious sentiments threaten social harmony. He confirmed that the administration will take decisive actions against anyone responsible for such remarks.
His statements followed a day after BJP MLAs protested in the Delhi Assembly over alleged comments made by AAP leader and Leader of Opposition Atishi during a recent session. The BJP accused the Opposition leader of employing inappropriate language in relation to a Sikh Guru, leading to frequent disruptions in the Assembly.
Addressing the pollution issue that was sidelined due to these disruptions, Ravinder Indraj questioned the Opposition’s commitment to tackling public health challenges. He criticized the previous AAP government for its failure to effectively manage pollution over its 11-year term and accused it of politicizing the issue.
“While the current government seeks serious discussions and long-term solutions for pollution, the Opposition seems more preoccupied with political tactics than public welfare,” he stated.
Regarding the ongoing campaign against encroachments, the Minister asserted that such practices cannot be tolerated and that the administration is acting within the framework of court directives.
“Encroachments create disturbances for the public. The administration is merely fulfilling its legal obligations, and politicizing this issue is unnecessary,” he concluded.
