Mumbai, December 30 (NationPress) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) unveiled its Kejriwalchi Guarantee Mumbai Manifesto on Tuesday, outlining promises for uninterrupted free water supply, zero electricity bills, and top-tier education and healthcare services, according to party insiders.
The Four Kejriwalchi Guarantees for Mumbai include a provision of free 24/7 water up to 20,000 litres per household monthly, a leak-control initiative, and complete sewage treatment. The manifesto aims to transform Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) schools by investing Rs 1 crore in each school, offering free BEST bus passes for all students, and setting up sanitary napkin vending machines at every school.
Furthermore, the AAP has pledged to rejuvenate BEST by ensuring a minimum fleet of 10,000 electric buses, providing free transport for women and students, and ensuring the creation of pothole-free roads throughout Mumbai.
As an independent contestant, the AAP is fielding 37 candidates for the 227-member BMC.
After the manifesto's launch, former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi stated, "Despite Mumbai's vast wealth, it has become an unattractive, polluted, and unsafe example of urbanization. If managed correctly, it could serve as a global model. Established parties have let Mumbaikars down, prioritizing greed over public welfare."
"We will deliver world-class free education, healthcare, and electricity in Mumbai, similar to our initiatives in Delhi and Punjab," she asserted.
Atishi emphasized that the AAP's manifesto for the forthcoming BMC elections is not merely an alternative, but rather a concrete strategy to reclaim Mumbai's dignity and potential.
"We urge Mumbaikars to vote for the greater good, for their enlightened self-interest, and to make a clean sweep with the broom," she added.
Preeti Sharma Menon, the AAP's Mumbai President, remarked that the primary distinction between Mumbai and the AAP governments in Delhi and Punjab is the lack of political resolve in the city.
"Our track record showcases our ability to deliver world-class education, healthcare, water, and electricity without corruption or debt. We aim to instill the same transparency and accountability within the BMC. This manifesto is our commitment to reclaim Mumbai for the 'Aam Mumbaikar' from the builder-contractor lobby.", she asserted.
Menon also criticized the coalition of various political parties in the upcoming BMC elections.
"Parties campaigning together in one corporation are competing against each other in the next. The AAP is approaching these elections with our 'Kaam Ki Rajneeti'. We are providing opportunities to young, educated individuals with proven public service records," stated the AAP's Mumbai President.
The AAP also aims to establish 1,000 Mohalla clinics that will provide free consultations, medications, and tests; develop a comprehensive three-tier healthcare system; and remove electricity bills up to 200 units per household through BEST, alongside free meter installations and a transition to decentralized solar energy.
Should they gain power, the AAP vows to construct two lakh public toilets; offer direct financial aid of Rs 5,000 monthly for low-income pregnant women until their child's first birthday; ensure an equitable civic interface with trained BMC personnel, introduce gender-neutral restrooms in all public facilities; facilitate one-time shop license registrations, add 280 hawking zones, and create rest areas for gig workers.
"The AAP's manifesto is dedicated to the inspiring legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Phule, Savitribai Phule, and Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj," concluded the statement.
