Recently, India's Ambassador to Vietnam, Sandeeep Arya, visited Tien Sa Port as Indian Naval Ships Delhi, Shakti, and Kiltan docked in Vietnam's Da Nang, emphasizing efforts to strengthen maritime relations and enhance maritime collaboration in the Indo-Pacific region.
This deployment aligns with India’s vision of 'MAHASAGAR' and illustrates the Indian Navy's dedication to being a preferred partner. The visit underscores a significant step in fortifying the India-Vietnam strategic partnership and promoting a rules-based, inclusive maritime order in the Indo-Pacific.
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Vietnamese PM Pham Minh Chinh during the 2025 BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Vietnam became a participant in the BRICS group in January.
India and Vietnam enjoy a historically close and warm bilateral relationship, which is characterized as a comprehensive strategic partnership. Relations were elevated to this status in 2016 during Prime Minister Modi's visit to Vietnam, having previously been designated a Strategic Partnership.
