New Delhi, Oct 15 (NationPress) The Adani Group is in the process of constructing a ropeway aimed at simplifying the journey for devotees visiting Kedarnath Dham, enhancing their access to darshan, as stated by Chairman Gautam Adani on Wednesday.
The ropeway, with a total investment of Rs 4,081 crore, will connect Sonprayag to Kedarnath. Once operational, this 12.9 km ropeway is set to cut down the travel duration from a challenging 9-hour trek to merely 36 minutes, significantly easing and securing the pilgrimage experience.
“The arduous ascent to Kedarnath Dham will soon be more manageable. The Adani Group is developing this ropeway to simplify and safeguard the journey for devotees,” Gautam Adani expressed in a post on the social media platform X.
“We take immense pride in being part of this sacred venture. May Mahadev continue to shower his blessings on everyone. Jai Baba Kedarnath!,” the industrialist added.
Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) received a Letter of Award (LoA) from the National Highways Logistics Management Ltd (NHLML) in September for this prestigious ropeway project.
This marks the company's inaugural ropeway project, anticipated to be finalized within six years. It will be managed by AEL’s Roads, Metro, Rail, and Water (RMRW) division.
The ropeway is designed to transport 1,800 passengers per hour in each direction, catering to lakhs of pilgrims annually.
This initiative aligns with the National Ropeways Development Programme – Parvatmala Pariyojana.
Developed on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework, the project will span six years for completion, with AEL operating it for 29 years post-construction.
In addition to enhancing connectivity, this initiative is projected to generate employment opportunities and stimulate tourism in the region.
Previously, Chairman Adani referred to the project as “a bridge between devotion and modern infrastructure.”
“By facilitating a safer, quicker, and more accessible sacred journey, we honor the faith of millions while also creating new opportunities for the people of Uttarakhand through our collaboration with NHLML and the Government of Uttarakhand. This esteemed project embodies our commitment to building infrastructures that serve the nation and uplift its citizens,” Gautam Adani stated.
