Kolkata, Jan 28 (NationPress) The stature of the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, as a national campaigner for the BJP appears to be on the rise.
Adhikari is set to embark on a two-day trip to New Delhi starting Tuesday to advocate for the party in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
According to BJP sources, Adhikari's ongoing advocacy in West Bengal regarding the injustices faced by minority Hindus in neighboring Bangladesh has garnered significant attention from the party's national leadership, making him a prime candidate for national campaigning.
"While the situation in Delhi may not be as pronounced as in West Bengal, there exists a challenge regarding the settlement of illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators to some degree," he noted.
Given these circumstances, Adhikari's campaigning efforts in New Delhi will be extremely impactful," remarked a member of the BJP's state committee in West Bengal.
Alongside Adhikari, fashion designer-turned-politician and party MLA Agnimitra Paul is also in New Delhi for the campaign.
Previously, Adhikari has campaigned for the BJP in the Assembly elections in Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Tripura, and Chhattisgarh.
Party insiders indicated that besides engaging in the campaigns for the Delhi Assembly elections, the leader of the opposition may also convene with the party's top brass concerning the current political landscape in West Bengal, particularly following the recent ruling by a special court in Kolkata regarding the rape and murder of a female junior doctor from the state-run R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital within the hospital's premises last August.
"Similar to the Bangladesh issue, the leader of the opposition has consistently campaigned on two other critical matters in the state: the R.G. Kar rape and murder case, as well as the recent fatalities of a woman and a newborn at a state-run medical college and hospital in West Midnapore, allegedly due to the administration of expired Ringer's Lactate there," stated the party's state committee member from West Bengal.
