Parvesh Verma Set to Run for New Delhi Assembly Seat in Upcoming Elections

New Delhi, Dec 14 (NationPress) Former BJP MP representing West Delhi, Parvesh Verma, is reportedly preparing to run for the New Delhi Assembly seat, highlighting the party's focus on this significant constituency.

The New Delhi Assembly seat is poised to become the center of a high-stakes electoral battle in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

In an interview with IANS, Verma confirmed, "The BJP has advised me to get ready for this seat. I am in the process of preparing, although the official candidate list has not been released yet."

In a surprising development, the Congress party has nominated Sandeep Dikshit, the son of the late Sheila Dikshit, for the New Delhi constituency. This decision is expected to rekindle a fierce political rivalry, particularly as former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is also anticipated to run from the same seat.

The New Delhi constituency has a track record of intense political contests, with Sheila Dikshit losing to Arvind Kejriwal in both 2013 and 2015, sparking a notable rivalry.

For Sandeep Dikshit, this election represents not merely a political challenge but a chance to restore his family's political heritage and counter Kejriwal's stronghold in the area.

Parvesh Verma further commented on the impending political confrontation, criticizing the Congress’ candidate selection.

"The Congress has chosen Sandeep Dikshit as its candidate from here. His mother was an MLA for three terms and served as Chief Minister. The Congress should clarify their choice. Regarding Kejriwal, it remains uncertain if he will stand here. As of now, Kejriwal claims he will contest. We will see what unfolds. I believe that like Manish Sisodia, who vacated his seat in Patparganj to run from Jangpura, Kejriwal should adhere to his commitments and not evade challenges when facing defeat. The people are keen to teach him a lesson," he stated.

Parvesh Verma has expressed significant concerns about the presence of Rohingya and Bangladeshi voters in Delhi, emphasizing that this issue transcends politics and is fundamentally a matter of national security.

"This is a grave issue, and it should not be politicized. Our foremost priority must be to ensure the safety and security of Delhi. Rohingyas and Bangladeshis are living in Delhi, and the Aam Aadmi Party shows dismay whenever the Delhi Police take action against them," Verma stated.

He also urged the Delhi Police to undertake more comprehensive investigations into the matter and called upon the Election Commission of India to address complaints regarding fraudulent voter registrations.

"I call on the Election Commission to explore the areas where we have raised issues and verify the legitimacy of voter registrations. Numerous individuals registered are not even citizens of India," he added.

Verma accused the AAP of enabling the registration of non-citizens by organizing Aadhaar card and voter ID camps.

"Members of AAP have been operating camps where they assist in obtaining voter IDs and Aadhaar cards for these individuals, and this should be thoroughly investigated," Verma stated.

In conclusion, Verma stressed that any grievances raised by the BJP are directed towards ensuring the safety and security of the residents of Delhi.
