Congress Faces BJP Showdown for 45-50 Seats in Delhi Assembly Elections: Sandeep Dikshit

New Delhi, Dec 15 (NationPress) The Congress is directly contesting against the BJP for 45-50 seats out of the total 70 Assembly seats in Delhi, while the AAP may become the primary challenger in approximately 8-9 constituencies, according to former MP and Congress candidate for the New Delhi seat, Sandeep Dikshit, who spoke on Sunday.

“The AAP is grappling with anti-incumbency issues and, based on their own evaluations, they anticipate losing at least 32 seats where they intended to replace their current MLAs,” Dikshit informed IANS, in anticipation of the Assembly elections that are expected to occur early next year.

He highlighted that a significant warning sign for the AAP is that this anti-incumbency sentiment is directed not only at local MLAs but also at the party leader, Arvind Kejriwal.

Dikshit, the son of three-time Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, stated that the AAP is starting at a disadvantage in 35-40 Assembly seats even prior to the elections being officially announced, suggesting a drop in their tally by the time of the actual voting.

Discussing the prospect of competing against Kejriwal in the Assembly elections, Dikshit expressed that it would be an engaging contest allowing him to scrutinize the former Chief Minister regarding his insufficient contributions to the constituency.

"I will showcase my record as a former MP who has dedicated 10 years to the city and challenge his performance,” he stated, anticipating a robust turnout in the constituency.

Reflecting on the recent discussions about the Constitution in Parliament, Dikshit criticized the government for using diversion tactics by focusing on the failures of other parties instead of honoring the 75 years of the Constitution.

He condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his limited remarks about the Constitution, opting instead to emphasize the actions of previous Congress-led administrations during the parliamentary debate.

On Saturday, PM Modi criticized the Gandhi family and the Congress for their repeated amendments to the Constitution, claiming that once they had “tasted blood,” they were eager to repeat the process.

He also accused the Congress of undermining the spirit of the Constitution for personal gain, engaging in vote bank politics and exhibiting arrogance, allegations that Dikshit firmly denied.
