Is there really 'chaos' and 'mismanagement' at the AI summit as Kharge claims?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 17 (NationPress) Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday accused the India-AI Impact Summit, taking place at New Delhi's Bharat Mandapam, of experiencing significant chaos and severe mismanagement.
He pointed out that participants and founders are facing multiple issues, including a ban on personal electronic devices and bags, alongside a mandate to use cash rather than digital and UPI payments.
Kharge further indicated that the Modi government should take notes from the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS).
In a post on X, Kharge expressed, "What could have been a showcase AI Summit for the world, highlighting India's digital and AI capabilities, has devolved into complete chaos and mismanagement at the hands of this 'PR hungry' government!"
"Founders, exhibitors, and visitors are all facing enormous distress due to the PM's unexpected appearance for a photo op on the very first day," he continued.
The Congress leader also claimed, "Exhibitors are deprived of food and water, their products are going missing, Digi Yatra is a total failure, laptops, personal electronic devices, and bags are banned, only cash payments are accepted, and founders are charged exorbitantly without basic amenities, among numerous other distressing issues."
He remarked that it is deeply unfortunate for India to experience this global embarrassment due to the incompetence of our own government.
"Perhaps the Modi government should take lessons from the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS), which is renowned for organizing large-scale Digital and Tech gatherings seamlessly," Kharge added.
The AI Impact Summit is an international event focusing on artificial intelligence, occurring in New Delhi from February 16-20.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has stated that the summit is based on three 'Sutras' -- 'People, Planet, and Progress' -- which outline India's strategy for international collaboration in the realm of Artificial Intelligence.
The event aspires to unite global leaders, policymakers, innovators, and subject matter experts from around the globe to discuss the future of Artificial Intelligence.
According to the MEA, ministerial delegations from over 45 countries are also set to participate in the summit. The United Nations Secretary-General and senior representatives from various international organizations are expected to join the discussions.
