Akhilesh Yadav Suggests UP Dy CM Should be 'Delivery Chief Minister'
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 27 (NationPress) In a recent statement regarding the LPG crisis, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav humorously suggested that Uttar Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister, Keshav Prasad Maurya, ought to assume the role of Delivery Chief Minister. This comment followed Maurya's remarks to the press about Yadav's previous comments on the escalating LPG situation, wherein he stated, "If they are short on cylinders, they should inform us. We will deliver them directly."
Akhilesh Yadav elaborated to IANS, saying, "We live in a new reality where delivery services are essential. Instead of remaining the Deputy CM, he should take on the title of Delivery Chief Minister." He further emphasized, "If anyone requires cylinders or any other assistance, he could ensure it is provided promptly."
Yadav highlighted the plight of citizens waiting in long queues for LPG cylinders, asserting, "At both the start and end of the month, people in Uttar Pradesh are lining up for cylinders, yet the government continues to claim that LPG cylinders are readily available."
He questioned the government's actions, stating, "Now they will suggest making smaller chapattis. What exactly is the government doing?"
In a separate development, the government insisted on Thursday that India's supply of petroleum and LPG is completely secure, urging citizens not to be swayed by a "deliberately misleading, organized campaign of misinformation" aimed at inciting unnecessary panic.
Moreover, Yadav reacted to allegations made by BJP MLC Devendra Pratap Singh, who wrote to the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court regarding police misconduct in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Yadav commented, "This is hardly a new occurrence in Uttar Pradesh. When they claim there is no mafia presence, it's crucial to realize that only one mafia exists. Fake encounters are not an isolated incident."
He asserted, "Whenever thorough investigations are carried out, it becomes evident that numerous fake encounters have occurred under the Uttar Pradesh government. Citizens have approached the National Human Rights Commission, and cases have been filed in courts. When justice is finally served, many officials may find themselves imprisoned, and even their families will be unable to intervene," he concluded.
