New Delhi, Feb 10 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to deliver the keynote speech at the National Conference focused on Tackling Cyber-Enabled Frauds and Dismantling the Ecosystem in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The two-day event, organized by the Central Bureau of Investigation in collaboration with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre under the Ministry of Home Affairs, will be held at Bharat Mandapam from February 10 to 11.

During the opening session, Home Minister Amit Shah will perform an investiture ceremony for CBI officers.

He will also inaugurate the newly formed Cybercrime Branch of the CBI and launch the State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre Dashboard, developed by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre. These initiatives signify a robust institutional response to the escalating threat of digital crimes.

The conference unfolds against the backdrop of India's swift digital evolution under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The extensive uptake of digital banking, governance, and communication tools offers convenience to millions but has simultaneously paved the way for organized cybercriminal networks to exploit vulnerabilities.

Financial losses from cyber fraud are anticipated to reach alarming figures, with scams involving phishing, fraudulent investment mule accounts, and digital arrest tactics inflicting substantial harm. The conference aims to foster a shared understanding of the magnitude, current trends, and evolving patterns of cyber-enabled fraud nationwide.

Discussions will revolve around three primary components of the fraud ecosystem. The financial aspect addresses mule accounts and money laundering channels; the telecom aspect focuses on the misuse of SIM cards, eSIMs, and related infrastructure; while the human aspect sheds light on cyber slavery and the trafficking of individuals into overseas scam operations.

Participants will concentrate on developing enhanced prevention measures, advanced investigative techniques, and the broader application of technology, including artificial intelligence and data analytics, to facilitate efficient investigations despite resource limitations.

Emphasis will be placed on improved inter-agency collaboration, public-private partnerships, expedited fraud reporting, real-time fund tracking, preservation of digital evidence, and enhanced support systems for victims.

The conference will gather senior officials from central and state law enforcement agencies, the Department of Telecommunications, the Department of Financial Services, the Reserve Bank of India, public and private banks, cooperative institutions, fintech companies, payment platforms, telecom operators, social media and cloud service providers, cybersecurity experts, and international counterparts.

This extensive collaboration reflects a comprehensive whole-of-ecosystem strategy to combat cyber threats. Through these efforts, the government aims to disrupt criminal syndicates, safeguard citizens, and bolster confidence in India's expanding digital landscape.
