New Delhi, Feb 9 (NationPress) The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, is set to deliver a keynote address at the National Conference focused on Tackling Cyber-Enabled Frauds and Dismantling the Ecosystem in New Delhi on February 10. ​

This two-day event, organized by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in collaboration with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre under the Ministry of Home Affairs, will be held at Bharat Mandapam from February 10 to 11. ​

During the opening session, Amit Shah will preside over an investiture ceremony for CBI officers, as stated in a press release issued on Monday. ​

He will also inaugurate the newly formed Cybercrime Branch of the CBI and unveil the State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre Dashboard developed by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre. These initiatives signify a bolstered institutional response to the escalating threat of digital crimes. ​

The conference is taking place against the backdrop of India's swift digital evolution guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The widespread embrace of digital banking, governance, and communication tools has provided convenience to millions, yet it has also created opportunities for organized cybercriminal networks to exploit vulnerabilities. ​

Financial losses attributed to cyber fraud are expected to reach alarming heights, with scams involving phishing, fake investment mule accounts, and digital arrest tactics causing extensive damage. The assembly aims to foster a shared understanding of the scale, current trends, and evolving patterns of cyber-enabled fraud throughout the nation. ​

Discussions will focus on three key components of the fraud ecosystem. The financial aspect addresses mule accounts and money laundering channels. The telecom aspect deals with the misuse of SIM cards, eSIMs, and related infrastructure. The human aspect highlights issues like cyber slavery and the trafficking of individuals into overseas scam operations. ​

Participants will aim to develop stronger preventive measures, advanced investigative techniques, and leverage technology, including artificial intelligence and data analytics, for more effective probes despite limited resources. ​

There will also be a strong emphasis on improving inter-agency cooperation, fostering public-private partnerships, expediting fraud reporting, real-time fund tracking, preservation of digital evidence, and enhancing support systems for victims. ​

The conference will gather senior representatives from central and state law enforcement agencies, the Department of Telecommunications, the Department of Financial Services, the Reserve Bank of India, public and private banks, cooperative institutions, fintech companies, payment platforms, telecom operators, social media and cloud service providers, cybersecurity experts, and international partners. ​

This extensive collaboration reflects a comprehensive approach to counter cyber threats. Through these efforts, the government aims to dismantle criminal syndicates, safeguard citizens, and bolster confidence in India's growing digital framework.
