Jammu, Feb 6 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, where he paid homage to the police personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. During this visit, he also presented compassionate appointment letters to the families of these brave martyrs.
Speaking to the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel positioned at various outposts in Kathua district, the Union Home Minister highlighted the importance of enhancing border security using modern technology, reiterating that the unwavering vigilance of frontline personnel is critical.
“We must address new challenges that arise from advanced technology with equally sophisticated solutions,” HM Shah stated.
He commended the armed forces for their role during Operation Sindoor, which led to the destruction of 118 enemy posts and three terror launch pads along the border.
The Home Minister noted that both the government and the BSF are united in their goal of safeguarding the nation’s borders, emphasizing that the threats faced today are markedly different from those encountered in the past.
“The challenges at our borders have evolved significantly over the years. Your commitment to remaining vigilant is paramount,” he remarked.
Accompanied by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Kumar Deka, and BSF Director General Praveen Kumar, HM Shah visited the border outposts of Gurnam and Bobiyian in the Hiranagar sector.
This visit occurs amidst increased attention on border management to thwart infiltration by terrorists and the smuggling of arms and drugs. Recent anti-terror operations have resulted in the deaths of four Pakistani terrorists from Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) in nearly a dozen encounters across Kathua, Udhampur, and Kishtwar districts over the past fortnight.
Earlier in the day, Home Minister Shah honored the memory of fallen police officers in Jammu and met their families at Lok Bhawan, providing compassionate appointment letters.
The Home Minister is currently on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir and plans to review various developmental projects on Saturday, alongside e-inaugurating several initiatives during his stay in Jammu.
