Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, Dec 29 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to commence a three-day tour of West Bengal starting Monday night, during which he will evaluate the Bharatiya Janata Party's readiness for the pivotal Assembly elections slated for next year.
Shah is scheduled to land at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata this evening. Following his arrival, he will engage in a private meeting with the core leadership team of the BJP's West Bengal unit to assess the election preparations.
A member of the state committee disclosed that the Home Minister is also anticipated to provide final suggestions concerning the formation of the BJP's state committee, along with an assessment of the party's organizational capacity.
“He is also expected to develop a strategy for addressing sensitive matters related to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the state, in addition to delineating the party's comprehensive campaign plan for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, particularly focusing on key issues that need to be emphasized,” the committee member mentioned.
However, considering the festive atmosphere leading up to the New Year celebrations, the Union Home Minister will refrain from addressing any public gatherings or rallies and will not participate in any roadshows during his three-day itinerary.
On December 30, HM Shah has planned three engagements: an interaction with media representatives, a visit to the ISKCON temple in central Kolkata, and a stop at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in the city, where he will meet senior officials of the organization in the state.
On the concluding day of his visit, December 31, the Home Minister will speak at a workers' conference in Kolkata to inspire party members in the election-bound state of West Bengal.
He will depart for New Delhi later that evening on December 31.
