What will Amit Shah's focus be during his Bengal visit?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, Jan 30 (NationPress) As Union Home Minister Amit Shah embarks on a two-day trip to West Bengal starting Friday evening, his agenda will blend a review of party operations with significant mass outreach initiatives.
This time, his emphasis will be on community engagement rather than internal organizational matters, a shift from his previous visit last month, which was solely focused on internal party activities. His last public appearance consisted only of a press conference.
A member of the state committee revealed that HM Shah will land at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata on Friday evening and will convene an essential meeting with the BJP's core committee members in the state to strategize on electoral readiness.
On Saturday, he is set to deliver speeches at two public rallies and party worker conferences, the first in the historic industrial area of Barrackpore in North 24 Parganas district in the morning, followed by another in Siliguri, located in the Darjeeling district of North Bengal.
Post the Siliguri rally, the Union Home Minister will depart for New Delhi from Bagdogra Airport.
According to a BJP state committee member, party workers from the four organizational districts or Lok Sabha seats, including Bangaon, Barasat, Basirhat, and Barrackpore, all situated in North 24 Parganas, will heavily participate in the Barrackpore event. Conversely, attendees from five organizational districts, namely Siliguri, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar, will be present at the Siliguri meeting,” the member stated.
Political analysts suggest that the ongoing series of visits to West Bengal—first by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, then by the BJP's newly appointed President Nitin Nabin, and now by Amit Shah—occurring within the same month and prior to the announcement of election dates, highlights the BJP's serious approach towards the upcoming state Assembly elections.
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Modi addressed two political gatherings, first on January 17 in Malda district, followed by another rally on January 18 at Singur in Hooghly district. Nitin Nabin also visited West Bengal for two days starting January 27 and addressed a public rally in the industrial town of Durgapur in West Burdwan district.
