Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Ahmedabad, March 3 (NationPress) The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, is slated to arrive in Ahmedabad on March 7 and 8, where he will officially launch and dedicate significant urban development initiatives worth over Rs 60 crore, as confirmed by officials on Tuesday.
Shah is expected to land in the city on the evening of March 7.
On March 8, he will inaugurate a newly built sports complex in the Vastral region, which has a budget of Rs 61.67 crore.
This facility is portrayed as a state-of-the-art complex aimed at enhancing sports infrastructure for future international events, including the 2030 Commonwealth Games, and promoting greater local participation in athletics.
Additionally, Shah will unveil the first phase of the Kharicut Canal renovation and development initiative.
The initial phase encompasses a 12.75-kilometre stretch from Naroda to Vinzol and is deemed crucial for urban infrastructure improvement and drainage enhancement in the city.
During his visit, Shah is anticipated to convene with leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Ahmedabad.
These discussions come in light of the Gujarat BJP's recent announcement regarding district-specific and morcha-level appointments of party in-charges as they prepare for the upcoming municipal and panchayat elections.
Four general secretaries have been designated as in-charges for major urban centers, including Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot.
This visit follows Shah's earlier engagement in Gandhinagar on February 15, where he reiterated the Narendra Modi government's dedication to safeguarding the interests of farmers, cattle rearers, and fishermen concerning international trade agreements.
After launching India's first Central Bank Digital Currency-based Public Distribution System at Mahatma Mandir, he stated, "The new digital token-based system will eradicate corruption and boost transparency in the delivery process."
Officials noted that the upcoming events in Ahmedabad will prioritize urban development and public infrastructure, along with internal organizational discussions within the party.
