Srinagar, February 15 (NationPress) Joint forces announced on Saturday that they have seized arms and ammunition in the Kupwara district of J&K.

The Chinar Corps, based in Srinagar, shared on X, "On February 14, 2025, following specific intelligence reports, a Joint Search Operation was initiated by the Indian Army and J&K Police in the vicinity of Bandi Mohalla, Channipura Pain, Kupwara. The operation resulted in the recovery of two pistols, four pistol magazines, and additional ammunition."

The security forces, including the army, CRPF, and J&K police, have intensified operations against terrorists in J&K. To demonstrate the central government's commitment to combating terrorism in J&K, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has chaired two security review meetings regarding the region in the past 15 days. This was followed by directives from the MHA to station two additional battalions of the Army in J&K to address terrorism.

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha also led two recent meetings, one in Srinagar and another in Jammu, where he instructed security forces to adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards infiltration and terrorists. LG Sinha emphasized that those aiding terrorism must face consequences, aiming to dismantle the ecosystem of terror sustained by armed terrorists, unarmed over-ground workers (OGWs), and their sympathizers.

On Friday evening, a soldier from the army was injured by gunfire in the Akhnoor sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Jammu district. The wounded soldier was promptly transported to the hospital for care.

Authorities stated that it is too early to determine if the soldier was shot by a bullet fired from the Pakistan army or by terrorists shooting across the LoC. In that same area, two army personnel, including a captain, lost their lives on February 11 due to an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion.

Officials later confirmed that the IED was planted by terrorists. Due to minimal snowfall this winter, traditional infiltration routes for terrorists along the LoC remain accessible. To ensure zero infiltration, the Army maintains high vigilance on the LoC and security forces remain alert in the hinterland.
