Jammu, April 13 (NationPress) The combined security forces have successfully unearthed an extensive stockpile of arms and ammunition from three terrorists who were eliminated during a prolonged three-day anti-terror operation in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to officials, the joint forces recovered 1 M4 Rifle, 2 AK 47 Rifles, 11 Magazines, 65 M4 rounds, and 56 AK 47 rounds, along with various items such as caps, medical supplies, first aid kits, and socks. This arsenal belonged to the three terrorists who were neutralized by the Army in the Chattroo Naidgam Kishtwar encounter on Saturday.
The operation was initiated based on intelligence reports in the Chatroo region of Kishtwar district.
During the second day of the operation, one terrorist was taken down, followed by the elimination of two more on the third day, including the senior commander of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) group, Saifullah.
On March 23, five terrorists were detected in Sanyal village, located just 4 km from the International Border in the Kathua district.
It was suspected that these terrorists had crossed over into Indian territory.
A police team promptly arrived in Sanyal village, but the terrorists managed to escape to Safiyan Jakhole village, where an encounter ensued between the police and the terrorists.
In that confrontation, two terrorists were killed, while four policemen made the ultimate sacrifice.
The Deputy SP (Border) was among three injured officers in that clash. Following the incident, joint forces launched a 'seek and destroy' mission in the vicinity.
This anti-terror operation was expanded to the higher altitudes of the Kathua and Rajouri districts.
Additionally, two more operations were initiated in the Udhampur and Kishtwar districts. The Udhampur operation is ongoing, while three terrorists have been neutralized in the Kishtwar operation.
On April 8, Union Home Minister Amit Shah presided over a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar.
The meeting included J&K Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, the Chief of Army Staff, GoCs of all corps in J&K, heads of paramilitary forces, the state DGP, and local intelligence agency leaders.
At the security review meeting, HM Amit Shah issued directives to completely eliminate terrorism from the union territory, emphasizing zero tolerance for terrorism, particularly focused on the Jammu division.
