Srinagar, April 12 (NationPress) In a remarkable demonstration of inclusive development and national service, Simari, a border village located in Karnah Valley, Jammu and Kashmir, has achieved full electrification and LPG access through a collaborative effort between the Indian Army’s Vajr Division and Aseem Foundation, as reported by the Army on Saturday.

Positioned along the Line of Control, with part of the village lying within Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Simari is of significant strategic and democratic value, serving as Polling Booth No. 1 of India. Previously, the residents faced challenges with inadequate power supply and rudimentary cooking methods. This initiative has positively impacted 53 households by providing solar microgrids and clean cooking LPG kits, markedly enhancing their living standards.

The Army stated, "This initiative is dedicated to the memory of Col Santosh Mahadik, a recipient of the Shaurya Chakra and Sena Medal, who sacrificed his life for the nation." Col Mahadik’s mother, Mrs. Kalinda Mahadik, along with Commander Tangdhar Brigade and Mr. Sarang Gosavi, the Founder and MD of Aseem Foundation, will inaugurate the solar electrification system in Simari on 14th April 2025.

The inauguration ceremony is expected to be attended by local residents, including women, children, elders, and community leaders. "This initiative exemplifies the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to border area development, aligning with the Government of India’s Vibrant Villages Programme. It highlights the Army’s role not only as defenders of the nation but also as partners in progress—bringing light, dignity, and opportunities to the most remote corners of India," the statement further noted.

According to the Army, "Chinar Corps, in partnership with Aseem Foundation, has been instrumental in empowering border communities across Jammu and Kashmir through its ongoing efforts in rural electrification, clean energy adoption, and community enhancement. This collaboration in the project reflects a strong dedication to nation-building through innovation, inclusion, and local engagement."
