Guwahati, June 30 (NationPress) In an effort to enhance its grassroots engagement and ensure accountability from the state government, the Assam Congress has officially launched the ‘Assam Justice Portal’ on Monday.

This digital initiative was introduced during a formal ceremony at Rajiv Bhawan, the party’s state headquarters located in Guwahati.

Debabrata Saikia, the Leader of the Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly, inaugurated the portal with the presence of senior party figures, including MLA Jakir Hussain Sikdar, Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress President Mira Borthakur, and various other prominent office-bearers.

The ‘Assam Justice Portal’ serves as an interactive digital platform enabling residents from throughout the state to report their grievances and bring attention to issues related to local governance, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and public services.

The portal aims to establish a direct communication line for citizens to express their concerns to the Opposition, which will advocate for resolutions.

During the launch, Saikia highlighted the Congress party’s dedication to being a responsible and responsive Opposition.

“This portal represents a significant step towards amplifying the voices of the public and ensuring that the government addresses ground-level issues. It promotes transparency and holds the administration accountable,” he stated.

Party leaders clarified that upon submission of a complaint, the Congress team will evaluate it and present the issue to the appropriate authorities for swift action.

This platform also allows users to report shortcomings in essential services, particularly under the Panchayati Raj system, aiming to document systemic administrative failures.

As per the APCC, this initiative is not merely a grievance redressal mechanism but a strategic tool for monitoring governance, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. The party perceives the portal as a crucial step towards closing the gap between the public and political leadership in Assam.

The Congress party aims to reestablish its connection with the public in Assam following the appointment of Gaurav Gogoi as the head of the state unit.

Gogoi recently remarked, “The enthusiasm observed in block unit meetings has exceeded our expectations. We were pleasantly surprised by the large turnout at these small gatherings.”
